Good Old Times

The other night an old friend from land-so-far-away-that-text-messages-get-delayed-for-120-seconds returned here in Manila for a brief visit. It wasn’t scheduled and I got plenty of things to do but since we’ve almost considered him non-existent then suddenly he’d appear without notice, it was something that we could not pass up on. Joke.

Anyway, these people have been with me ever since I can remember. The early days: when we would deliberately come to school late so the gates would be closed and we’d have no choice but to cut classes; When we used to bully (and get bullied) the geeks and the weirdos for all we knew they were anti-social; When we used to dare each other to steal items from department stores, bookstores and clothes shop and we’d go home victorious and uncaught with almost 60 free items at hand (OMG I can’t believe we did that); When all of us used to force ourselves to sit in a circle and say good and bad things about each person so as to further develop our friendship. I can’t believe how a now-ridiculous kiddy fun and games and those series of “open forums” could and would actually make sense in ways I didn’t notice. Look how we’ve grown, how we’ve changed and how far we’ve gone and yet we’re still the same kids at heart who still share drinks and funny stories with each other.

Last Sunday was cool and although not everything’s the same, there are some that did not change. We still laugh at each others’ jokes and still notice each others’ silent bitchings towards an innocent victim. That’s the greatest, I swear! Haha! Haaay… This is how you chronicle a withstanding friendship. After all the issues or no matter how far we outgrow our youthful cheers or how long we may not see each other, we still come home to each other as if we just said hello a short while back. It’s endearing if you’ll sit in silence and think about it but of course if you’re there with all those fools playing around, it’ll sound cheesy and silly and you’ll most probably get a slap. Haha! Well… It’s good to have known and be a part of you guys. Until next time…
