DTC on the Red Carpet

Posted by Borgy On December - 19 - 2009

It’s the time of the year again when I fill my blog with loads of photos! Thursday night was our company’s Christmas party in Crowne Plaza and it surely was personally unforgettable for one obvious reason. I will reveal later why. It was fun, fabulous, loud and filled with really good food. 7 Corners really does not disappoint.

I was part of the committee that organized the party. We all wanted the Red Carpet theme so it would be easy to urge everybody to dress up. And last Thursday, they did not disappoint.

Our party was held at 7 Corners Restaurant in Crowne Plaza. Two years ago we held it there (for the Retro party) and enjoyed the buffet so much that we all insisted we do it there again this year. We started with a photo op in front of our bongga press wall! Too bad I did not practice my pose enough so I looked a little too stiff.

After the photo op, we all attacked the buffet! I was craving for ice cream so I took three scoops of vanilla and sprinkled it with lots of kisses and nuts and a spoonful of liquid chocolate. Hehe. Then I had steak and pasta. I devoured it all in less than 30 minutes because I was so pressured with our upcoming performance. We were the first one to go and we still had to change into our silly costumes! So nervous.

This year’s party was more challenging. Normally, we hold “initiation” rites for newbies every Christmas party and summer outing but since we did not have newbies this time, each team had to present/perform something. And to encourage everyone, a prize money would be given and those who’d refuse to perform had to buy their way out for 500 pesos. For our team, Yosef suggested we do the Single Ladies skit from Saturday Night Live by Beyonce and Justin Timberlake. It was funny and easy to remember. But to get the audience’s approval, we decided to don sexy costumes as well and I was cast to play Beyonce. :D Can’t post the pics here – they’re too humiliating! Haha! See them on my Facebook.

The other teams’ presentation were less embarrassing than ours. Unfortunately, we didn’t win. Though we thought it was not fair because we all did our performances live and the winner videotaped theirs, it was okay because our boss was really funny in that video. Had we known it did not have to be a live performance, we would have done a funnier and riskier act. Haha!

We also had games. Like last year, I was part of a game where I had to be turned into something. This year I was turned into a Christmas Tree. The game was done five minutes after our presentation so I did not have time to change clothes – I was still in my performance costume minus the Beyonce wig. I looked like garbage. But WTH, it was for fun!

The other games were guessing games: a Pinoy Henyo and Guess the Baby DTC.

I was happy to see all my colleagues participate and follow the dress code to make the party fabulous. As I said during the planning part early December, we do this dress-up just once every year so I guess it wouldn’t hurt to spend a little or exert extra effort to look more than your usual office persona. I wonder how they’re gonna top this off next year…

After our team’s performance, I knew my prim-and-proper outfit would be ruined so I prepared another ensemble! It was more relaxed. I told Jack “Ganun naman ang mga stars after their performances diba. Nagpapalit ng costume.” Hahaha!

When the theme for the party was announced, they also told me that I could no longer win the Star of the Night title because I’ve won it three times already. It was not a problem with me, though I admit I felt beautiful winning it. And that night, they officially called me a Hall of Fame-r. Haha!

Jack and Elaine were the Stars of the Night.

And of course, it would not be a complete “photo” event for DTC without Carlo’s “photobombs”. Here he is again sticking himself into the frame unbeknown to the others.

It was a fun night. It’s those moments that I will surely miss when I finally leave DTC. It’s hard to find a company without much negativity and politics. But like any young man growing up, he has to eventually move out of his house and to live by his own. DTC has become like a family to me. It’s gonna be hard to leave… Anyway, that’ll be on another post soon. Right now, here are the happy pics of us that night! :)

nyahaha, was waiting for this blog :P I thought about the live performance vs. MTV, too bad the organizers were on our team haha. The Bobet performance was awesomely funny, sobrang game sya so you have to give it to him (hihi). That “discuss the specs and chase me afterwards” scene is my favorite and it still gives me the laughs whenever I remember it. :P

Don’t worry, I really laughed my ass off from your performance. Panalo si Jack and Yosef din. haha. Sinabihan ko nga si Marianna, nathreaten kami! hahahaha

Re photobombing. I was sitting innocently during the buffet when I remembered your entry about the DTC black and white party. Naenganyo tuloy ako magphotobomb this year. bwahaha.

so is this our last christmas party? me thinks so :)

hintay mo yung mga photobomb mo di yun talaga mawawala! haha! di pa ko tapos mag-select ng pictures eh. and yeah, i think that would be my last christmas party. kaya tinodo ko na sa kahihiyan. yung papalit sakin dapat mag-ganun din hahaha!
