Piglet has always wanted me to go with him to rave parties and I’ve been there twice before. The first one was Tiesto and then next was Armin – both happened last year. They were a different experience from the usual clubs that I used to visit because of the big venue, amazing lights and really loud music. Plus the fact that world famous DJs were playing for you. And because of those, I enjoyed most of it. The only thing that I hated was standing up all night that really hurt my legs! Exhausting.

Last night was Cream Halloween Ball. Piglet asked me weeks ago and I didn’t wanna go at first because I was out every weekend since September. I wanted to rest. But on the second thought, we had not gone out together for so long so that would be a good time. And I knew how much it meant to him. So there, Cream was set.
It was the worst weather I’ve seen! Signal #3 in Manila and Typhoon Santi was expected to make a landfall early Saturday morning. But that did not stop us from going. When we got to A.Venue (around 1AM), the usual long queue for security check faced us outside and everyone was cold and wet from the rain. But the mood was still happy and anticipant. And despite heavy rains, many people went in costumes. My favorite was The Joker who kept creeping up on people’s backs with his evil grin pretending to stab them with a fake knife. Other notable costumes I saw were traffic enforcers, Lady Gaga, a shower room (imagine someone clad in a towel walking around with a strapped round bar overhead with draping shower curtain), a farmer (with a thought balloon saying “Pa-Plow” and “Hire Me”), and Edward Cullen. They really got their game on all for the festivity’s sake. No awards.
The stupid thing was I did not have enough cash when we got in. So at around 2AM, I had to cross Makati Avenue for the nearest ATM. GRABE! I just knew it was the full force of Santi. I could see so much rain from the lamp posts, the wind was blasting, and the street was filled with cars trying to enter the parking lot. After I took money, I went to 711 to buy stuff and with me were two guys from the party. So I thought, okay di lang ako ang basang basa. Haha! But really, that storm was no joke. Thankfully I was blessed with quick mind and focus or I would’ve cried that moment I was stuck in 711. The storm was really intimidating. So WTH! I took off my jacket, covered it over my head and ran. Mabasa na kung mababasa, we all braved the storm for that anyway so what should everyone expect! Ayun, I went back inside with messy hair and wet pants. So did the rest of the people outside. It was fun!
To say Piglet was happy is an understatement. It was his perfect moment in time. And despite my opinions, it was nice to see him very happy feeling loved by everyone. With his guard down, I felt he was a beautiful stranger telling me stuff about the two of us I’ve never heard before. It was shocking in a way because it wasn’t his usual demeanor but it was as real as he could ever be and I’m glad to have seen it. Surprising how things like that could make a relationship better. That was the magic of trance on Piglet.
Sadly, trance isn’t something I can live by. That was Piglet’s world – a beautiful place with beautiful people, lights and music – and I was happy to be there. But I don’t feel I belong there. I was merely a guest in their happy place appreciating a different kind of fun and learning to respect the difference. Something’s missing and I can’t reach that high. Trance sounds good. I listen to it everyday on my way to work to set my mood. But as that night went on, the music eventually sounded like noise to me. Probably because my legs were getting too tired and I wanted to sleep. Trance overload, as I call it. But it doesn’t matter. In the end, we got home safe, Piglet had a fun night and was still happy. And with that, so was I.
