The House

Posted by Borgy On March - 30 - 2008

House. Red Team.

You have an idea what that is? It’s the product of one of our team-building activities yesterday during our company summer outing that helped us, through an icky way, be more comfortable with each other. Haha! Do you now have an idea what that house is made up of?

At Work: Harvey and I

Posted by Borgy On March - 27 - 2008

When work, pressure and misunderstanding collide, the result isn’t really nice. And sometimes it’s just worse when it happens between friends because it’s hard to not take things personal. That’s what happened between Harvey and I this evening. Harvey has been my friend since college and we’re now working together in the same team in DTC. The past week was filled with deadlines and new tasks and I had to work closely with her on certain things. This evening’s moment wasn’t nice and I regret my lack of patience and consideration. But after an hour, when things cooled down, we talked and said sorry and cleared-out things that we did not understand and hated about our actions. And that’s what I like about us – we love each other and we don’t let it get into us too deeply.

I learned something today. My action was embarrassing and harsh. Not good. But thanks girl for understanding and I expect so much from you because I know you can do more. I’ll always support you, promise! Love yah! :)

Holy Week / Faith Issues

Posted by Borgy On March - 22 - 2008

When I was a kid I used to hate the holy week for several reasons: back then, the usual TV shows that I watched would be replaced by really old movies like “Tinimbang Ngunit Kulang“; I wasn’t allowed to play outside because the elders warned that if I wounded myself, it would take longer to heal; and the whole week was just gloomy. The only things that I liked were Visita Iglesia with family on Maundy Thursday, Caridad or free food at 3PM on Good Friday and our local church’s re-enactment of The Resurrection and Salubong early morning of Easter Sunday. Spiritually, I did not understand the whole thing. Today… I think I’m better but not good enough.

I once hated a priest in Bulacan for instructing people to say to each other “Mamamatay ka rin” during his homily to emphasize that we should not fear death. He did this as a joke without even thinking that there might be sick people there, like my Mom, fighting and spending all they had just to live longer. Since then, I stopped travelling a couple of hours every week to visit that church. I’ve also become sensitive to what priests say and do and often found faults. I even criticised how “mechanical” our Sunday masses have become – it was like we do and say the same things over and over. Scripted na lahat so you don’t even know if people are actually praising God by heart or just reciting verses they’ve come to memorize. That incident worsened by faith issues. And it’s not good. I’m doing my best to not become a hater of those, particularly priests, who do not practice what they preach because they make mistakes too. It was just a bad moment because we went there for my mom, who I knew prayed a lot to live longer for us. And hearing that one who you thought would inspire you actually make your worries a laughing matter to prove a different point was just disappointing. I used to love that church for its beauty and vibe but I never went back there.

All I know now is I have faith in God. I may not be a saint but I’m not a bad person. Maybe I just developed an overrated perception when it comes to religion that’s why I feel I fall short, or maybe it’s the rest of the world who takes it more than it is. A memorable line I heard from a mass long ago keeps me pressured to offer more: it’s not enough that you just believe in God – the devil also believes in God - you have to do good things too. Hmmm… Yeah. I do good things.

Break

Posted by Borgy On March - 21 - 2008

Whew! I’m taking a break. It’s Good Friday and I’m here at work on a very sunny afternoon and the light actually shines through the blinds of our office window so I’m wearing sunglasses indoors. I like the sun but this is just annoying.

You know how it is when you got lots to do and you got everything scheduled but certain things just don’t work the way they should? I’ve been working on my ES assignment for a couple of hours now because I encountered shitholes so I had to recreate the virtual PC for it – futher delaying my other tasks. After that, I still have to work with Harvey for her test site and then study VHD. Our consultant for that product will be on-leave for two weeks starting April and I’d have to take over and I still haven’t focused on that one yet.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE when I got loads to do. I actually hate being paid for doing nothing – it insults my sense of capability. It’s just when things go wrong unexpectedly and all other things get messed up as well that really pisses me off. During the past weeks I was blessed to be given challenging assignments and I liked it but I was worried that it occupied my time to learn VHD – it was my priority until the ATO enhancement came up. Anyway… I still got a week. A whole week to learn and fully understand VHD *fingers crossed*

Migrate – Mariah Carey (Live at SNL)

Posted by Borgy On March - 17 - 2008

Mariah (featuring T-Pain) performed a new song “Migrate” from her upcoming album E=MC2 in Saturday Night Live this weekend. This video may not stay online for long because they got it removed from YouTube. You’re lucky to catch this if you’re able to do so. :) Nice club song! It may sound heavier in CD – I like it.

Summer Na!

Posted by Borgy On March - 16 - 2008

It’s here! It surely looks and feels hot and that’s a summer sun up there! So it’s time to keep those scarves and jackets for next year and take those colorful board shorts and flip-flops out and hit the beach.

As much as I love the cool weather, the heat of summer gets me as excited too but only for the perfect reason to go to the beach. The humidity and pollution in the metro is just unbearable so that’s a big downside of the season. Well, I just have to get the most out of it like everything else – think of sunny days, fine sand, turqoise waters, colorful umbrellas, fruit shakes, breezy music, sexy beach-goers… Speaking of the last one, that’s also why I’ve been working out more often than ever. Haha! I also observed the significant increase in number of gym-goers lately – they may be those who plan to join bikini contests and are cramming for results. Iba talaga motivation pag summer. Hehe! I have few trips lined up and I hope none of it gets cancelled. Minsan na nga lang ako makapag-relax that’s why I so look forward to being with my family and friends out of town.

I heard that song months ago and since has become my favorite in anticipation of this season. Only Kaye, among my SPMF buddies, liked it when I shared it with them during our anniversary party. Good thing Jeyelle, Harvey and Jack liked it when I played it to them – it’s a perfect summer theme song – cos at least they won’t hate me when I play it on our company outing this month. Hehe… Forget the lyrics – it just gives out the ultimate summer vibe! :) Woooohoooo!!!

ThanK You 3G

Posted by Borgy On March - 9 - 2008

This is my first post using a mobile phone. Hehe… How I wish my phone has 3G too! Our PC’s connection has issues so it was quite a boring weekend. I just slept, ate, did the laundry and slept and ate some more. Anyway, gotta finish this. Thanks to Piglet’s fone for this brief post. Good night! :)

Shots From The Past

Posted by Borgy On March - 3 - 2008

I’ve been blogging since college but I kept transferring from one host to another so I really don’t have an extensive archive. While browsing my PC folders, I found a copy of my previous websites from back in 2005 and all my blog posts and pictures were there. Ohmigosh! I could not believe it. I browsed through my past entries and instantly went back in time and remembered how things used to be. Felt weird and I was like “did I really do that?!” and there were funny pictures na sobrang ma-emote. It surely made me cringe and laugh to look at myself.

Take this one for example:

Borgy. Believe it or not.

O diba! I really have the potential to become a good actor noh? Haha! I think this was taken during the shiteous times two years ago. Looking at it now… I see a very sincere kid who doesn’t know what to do with his life. Yeah. I was very confused then and everything seemed unfair. The hair completely rocked the shot!

Eto pa:

Borgy 2006

I absolutely love the hair! I didn’t like it back then but in this photo, it shines like it never ever did in real life. Thank you Photoshop! Hahaha! This one’s a cheesy new year’s resolution picture for 2006. Based on the caption, it’s obvious that I was having a bad time and I wanted to reclaim my peace of mind. Kawawa naman.

US Airways, Paulo.

This was in 2005 when I was still working in ACS. I was a mess back then. Young, excited and misdirected. Look at that: eyebags, bad hair, and that headset brought torture. My day would be like: start working at 230AM, end at 1PM due to mandatory overtime, go to Greenbelt for beer and smoke with the team and then have less then 6hours of sleep. Kaya I weighed less than 130lbs yata ‘nun.  And look at Liezel, she was still fat and very boyish pero now, hot mama na siya.

Haaaaaay! There are lots more to share but it’ll get boring as it goes.

This is how you chronicle life and it’s good to look back and realize how you’ve become a better person. I hope one day I’ll stumble upon pictures from today and again laugh at how things used to be different.

Sex and the City Movie

Posted by Borgy On March - 3 - 2008

And now, the full theatrical trailer has arrived. Click here to see it.

Sex and the City

There’s no other TV series that got me hooked like Sex and the City. I did not become a fan of it until its second season but since then, I always watched every episode on Tuesdays and the re-runs on Saturdays. Although I was younger then and the target demographic for the show is women in late 20s to late 30s, I still liked it. The natural humor of the show appealed a lot to me. And, aminin, we all wanted to be like them: rich, fierce and fabulous!

The movie version picks up where the TV series ended. You’ll see in the trailer that Carrie is with Big and are getting married; Charlotte and Harry has this Chinese kid which she adopted in the final season; Samantha’s with Smith; and Miranda’s with Steve. Being a huge fan, I am expecting much for the movie’s story and I’m quite happy they created a new one instead of summarizing its full run. While watching the trailer, it gave me goosebumps to hear an orchestrated version of the show’s theme tune. Aaahhh… It’s back and it’s really big!

Here in Manila, it’ll be a sure hit. I was among those who talked about it nonstop when it was still airing. This is one movie I’m sure to never miss.
