Piglet’s Birthday

Posted by Borgy On September - 20 - 2007

This is the busiest week. We’ve got lots and lots to do and I never felt time pass so quickly – one moment I just started writing test scripts for a particular user story and then suddenly it’s already past 9PM. But I’m loving it. There come days when I just wanna stay in bed and rest but surely after a complete eight-hour sleep and a bar of chocolate, I’ll be reaching for more tasks to do. Plus I’m studying PHP and MySQL again. The only thing that has been slipping off my schedule is gym. Aaargh! This mid-afternoon schedule isn’t working to my advantage.

Anyway… Two hours ago Bryan’s birthday had officially ended. Hehe… Now we’re all looking forward to MY birthday next week. *grins* Last night I gave him a little celebration when he arrived home from work – just the two of us and it was kinda’ cute. Of course there were few balloons and a cute little cake that I so liked I almost felt it was my birthday already. However I forgot the big birthday banner that would’ve made it appear more birthday-like because I was struggling to search for Art Cakes in Galleria only to find out that there was none. It was almost 7PM so I had to walk to Shangri-La Plaza for it because taking a cab ride would’ve taken longer because of the Ortigas traffic that hour. Well… The exhaustion was worth it. Bryan liked the cake, the cookie, the balloons, the food and of course, the gift. The smile on his face was priceless and I caught it on camera. :D Hehe…

Here are some of his pictures:

On my way home, I ruined the upper and right side of the cake by accident.
This is the best angle to hide the mayhem. :) But I did not feel very much guilty for it
because last year, Bryan accidentally dropped a lamp shade on my birthday cake
before I was even able to blow the candle. Nakaganti din. Haha! *JOKE*

I yelled on a bookstore employee over the phone because I thought they
did not put those balloons inside the bag. I pumped air into those airbags
myself cos I din’t want to carry them like that and tying its end into a knot was tough.

I can’t remember the last time he made a face like that for a picture that I’m taking.

Bryan loved my little gift. It was exactly what he wanted and I didn’t really know.
I guess those two years have really tangled even a small part of our brains.

Awww… Sweet. Yep. I badly need a haircut

Rainbow Connection

Posted by Borgy On September - 12 - 2007

Everyone must have heard this song once in their lives and I’m not sure if you’re like me but, I never knew that the original singer of this song is [my new favorite] Kermit the Frog who performed it in The Muppet Movie back in 1979. This song reminds me so much of my childhood and how things used to be so easy.

Anyway, I’m having this crazy obession with Kermit the Frog ever since I stumbled upon his duet with Kylie Minogue in “Especially For You” and his debut performance of “(It’s Not Easy) Bein’ Green.”  It’s like travelling back in time watching those videos. Right now I’m looking at his old pictures and reading his stories – do you know that he’s hardly left unoperational? Kermit is always operated by someone covered in black cloth and he must not use Kermit’s voice when not operating him. AND, you can’t talk to him while he’s working as Kermit – you should address Kermit instead. How cool is that!? Hehe… This frog has really come to life. He even has a star in Hollywood Walk of Fame!

I wanna buy a life-size Kermit the Frog stuffed toy. Awww… Anyway, just watch this very endearing video of Kermit the Frog singing “The Rainbow Connection” and I’m sure you’ll love him again, if not already.

My September

Posted by Borgy On September - 9 - 2007

It’s September and my birthday’s coming and also the first anniversary of this site. I still have not learned much PHP to convert this whole site into a dynamic blog which I think may take longer than I thought. It’s also Bryan’s birthday a week before mine so it’ll be twice the anticipation and expenses celebration. It’s gonna be a busy month for both of us. I’m still thinking of where to take him on his birthday… Hmmm….

Last week our QA team had a meeting about project assignments and we have lots to do by month-end which is the target release date of our software. And being in Support team as well, if someone goes on holiday even for just one day, it’ll complicate things a lot and that’s exactly what’ll happen tomorrow. A team mate sent a message saying he’ll be on leave Monday and Tuesday [TWO DAYS?!] so we’ll have make adjustments again. Argh!

Bryan has been receiving projects in Dell. He’s running the course of being a communications coach and he’s been attending meetings everyday. Finally he’s being given extra tasks that really fits his interests and it’s been eight months and I’m happy to see no sign of boredom in him. Actually, he’s been spending more time in the office than he should which was once an unusual thing for him to do. Reaching this far with so much focus is already an achievement. Congratulations Bryan – go claim what you deserve!

Whew! Tomorrow’s Monday [already] and it’s work-work-work again. A deadline’s set on Friday for my test scripts. Better not lose focus on this one.

And that’s new new iPod Touch that Kaye was talking about – which lets you lilsten to music, watch videos and surf the Internet. It’s actually an iPhone without the phone and camera. :D Starts with 8GB for $300. That’s hot… *Tssssss*

Unanswered

Posted by Borgy On September - 8 - 2007

Unanswered questions will always remain questions silently tucked somewhere waiting to be cleared like a sleeping volcano – despite of the beauty brought by its calmness, its wrath awaits while it boils up quietly inside. I have learned to control the outbursts of these unanswered questions because, as quoted by someone else, they’re all in the past and they don’t matter anymore. In the past? True. Don’t matter. Uhm…

We ask because we don’t understand and when we don’t understand, we tend to make our own conclusions, may they be right or not, just so we can hold on to something. Conclusions that are a mix of our observations, our biased feelings and a bit of consideration of all others concerned. And its state of uncertainty lingers giving you another set of choices: make yourself believe or seek for clarity whenever possible.

I’ve seen people go crazy holding all these questions and they destroyed characters and relationships. In between the day a question was first asked and the day when the question finally found an answer, a very beautiful story can be built on the foundation of one’s own make-believe. Stories that can easily be scrapped by the significant answers that are meant to be buried alive.

On the better side… We are all gifted by intellect and sentiment. Powerful gifts that should help you understand and bring good things out of everything. Traits that help you weigh things so you can choose. Traits that help you forgive those who seek forgiveness despite of the disaster they have caused. There is always a way to work things out even if the answers that we fear most yet we still wish to know aren’t the best set one can get.

OMG! This One’s Hilarious

Posted by Borgy On September - 2 - 2007

By now I *personally* believe that you’ve already seen the funny video of Miss South Carolina during the question-and-answer portion of Miss Teen USA this week. Yeah, I know it feels embarrassing to watch how she just lost it. Well… This parody is totally hilarious! I remember my gay college friends when they joined beauty pageants and the way they go about the whole thing – they’d say almost everything that popped into their heads just to prolong their statement, have more time to think of an answer, appear intelligent with a long speech and, all at the same time, maintain poise while they gathered all their strength to contain themselves and not be seen shaking onstage. If only Miss South Carolina met one of those people, she would have won the crown. ;)

Anyway here’s the video. If you haven’t seen the original infamous question-and-answer video *and such as* then watch it here first.

Arwen

Posted by Borgy On September - 1 - 2007

Yesterday came the newest addition to our family – Arwen. She’s a red baby miniature pinscher with a huge appetite and a thing for chasing footsteps. I hope nobody steps on her. Ming, our male white cat, hates her but fortunately doesn’t try to hurt her. Bryan and I tried to acquaint them but Ming just made this humorous I-loathe-you SKKKSHHHHZZ sound and would try to stare at Arwen and purr like begging us to take her away whenever we brought them close together. They remain peaceful naman.

Ming now remains away and seldom knocks on our room because he knows Arwen is bouncing all over the place playing with almost everything she stumbles upon. Hehe… Fun and so adorable. Of course I still love Ming even if she endlessly tries to sneak inside our closet whenever we forget to close it. He’s very malambing while Arwen is really playful. Cute babies…

Step Up

Posted by Borgy On September - 1 - 2007

Years back when I was still in school I always said to myself that one day I’d be rich – filthy rich that I could buy my way out of everything. Hehe… It was all about the money back then. Eventually I realized the beauty of dreams and its essence on your character and that if you just work hard, you’ll surely get what you want one day. That’s what you get from listening to Mariah songs – she has a lot of those kinds. But come to think of it, that’s what we’re all aiming for. That’s why we’re all working our asses off and that’s why we sometimes choose to leave important parts of our lives behind.

Yesterday it was officially announced in the office: effective today, September 1st, I’ll be acting supervisor to our team together with my teammate Yosef. It was the good news that I’ve been keeping from here but of course my friends already knew since last week. Lots of congratulations and proud remarks came my way and I thank everyone who felt it. This reignited my interest towards my job. Early last month I was thinking about my next step because I felt like I wasn’t going to do well in this company. This came just in time. In Ate Celle’s words: blessings come to those who wait.

Together with my promotion, of course, are added tasks and responsibilities. I do not want to disappoint. This hasn’t totally sunk in yet and I was almost-merely focused on the raise on my salary when I talked to my boss, but I know I have to act responsibly not to commit the usual mistakes that I do. Step up another level in my character and be more professional. Yeah… That’s all about it – be professional.

On other news… Tonight, Gilbert will be leaving for the U.S. Although I’m happy because he’s finally being serious about his career, I feel sad as well because we’ve been friends for so very long and now he’ll be staying there for good. I met him together with the rest of the gang back in high school when I was still struggling with my personality. I practically developed myself around them that’s why seeing any of them leave for whatever good reason it may be is just disheartening. No more inumans with him, no more singing duets, no more staying up late to play Monster Rancher while on the phone, and no more of the big guy who always makes us laugh during gatherings. Haay… Gilbert, you know I’m happy for you – you’ll be with your family again. I will miss you and I still hope we’ll meet again very soon. Good luck and until next time. :)
